Learning is about growth. Learning is about change. While learning should be about meeting a specific goal, it should be measured more by the amount of change.

If the test is given at the beginning of the class and at the end of the class, everyone will have a better idea of the growth in a specific class.

Assessment is measured on 2 predetermine scales (predetermined between the learner and the “Assessor”):

  1. Achievement – how much the learner has changed between the first test and the last
  2. Level of Competence – how much the learner has achieved a relative level of competence, with the level of competence determined completely by the Assessor.

In Sports the “Tryout” is the test before the class.   Game performance is the test after the class.
